Reading the four digits
The first two digits are the hour (00–23). The last two are minutes (00–59). If the hour is 13 or higher, subtract 12 and add PM: 1300 is 1:00 PM, 1845 is 6:45 PM. Hours 01–11 stay AM; 0000 is 12:00 AM and 1200 is noon.
How to say it
- On the hour, say “hundred hours”:
1300is “thirteen hundred hours”. - Morning hours keep a leading zero:
0730is “zero seven thirty”. 0000is “zero hundred hours” (midnight). Some units also use2400for the end of the day — this converter treats it as midnight.
